Chemtools Welding & Metal Treatment
Welding is the process of joining two metals or thermoplastics together by creating coalescence; this is done normally through melting the work pieces and adding a filler material which forms a pool of molten material that subsequently hardens to form a joint.
There are many forms of welding using different energy sources. The most popular being gas, electric arc, laser, friction ultrasonics and electron beam welding. Within these major welding categories there may be many differing types, for example in gas welding there are many gases used and in electric arc welding there are different combinations of electrodes, DC or AC power and the use of shielding gases.
